Simply Summer: Routines for your Kids (That Won’t Drive you Nuts)
Summer is awesome….until it’s not. The free time that we long for can quickly turn into “I’m bored” or “I’m making a toothpaste mountain on my bed.” How do we keep kids busy, while giving them just enough time for creativity?
At our house, block scheduling does the trick! It’s simple and flexible enough to lean into summer, and consistent enough to keep us from losing our minds. It also helps manage the everlasting requests for snacks. Controlled chaos, if you will.
Here is an example of our schedule:
Here’s the breakdown:
My daughter likes to wake up and eat breakfast before getting ready for the day. This is totally doable for us in the summer. So that’s how we begin our days.
Then, we block out our day from there. When we have a blank space, my daughter knows she can choose what to put in that block. This helps us stay focused on one or two activities in a block of time, which helps a TON with clean up!
This can work for you, too! Grab your free, editable, block schedule template HERE.
